With such limited depth, the Bowie High School girls’ basketball team has employed an all-hands-on-deck approach.
For Tuesday night’s District 3A-9 game versus Holliday, it was Addy Cook’s time to shine as she poured in a game-high 20 points to go with a team-best eight rebounds in a 57-39 victory over Holliday.
“We established our inside game,” Bowie head coach Colby Davis-Pastusek said. “Holliday was playing a zone. Addy was a presence in the paint, and she finished her shots. I was glad to see us get her the basketball.”
Cook has been working on her post game this season. In this game, she canned 8-of-16 field goals and added 4-of-6 from the free-throw stripe.
Taylor Martin also is playing more minutes, and she contributed seven points off the bench – including a pair of successful 3-pointers.
“Taylor shot the ball well,” Davis-Pastusek said, “and she answered the call for us.” Read more in the Jan. 30 Bowie News.
