County slashes $400,000 from 2015 budget requests
Montague County Commissioners slashed another $400,000 from their budget proposal Monday after hearing from six more elected officials and department heads during a workshop.
When the court began hearing officials on June 23, requests and revenue proposals were about $1.2 million in the red. General fund requests totaled $7.7 million, an increase of $933,228 over last year.
As with most budgets, the number one request is personnel ranging from the sheriff’s office asking for three additional deputies and the district clerk for one new staffer.
County Auditor Jennifer Essary said around $400,000 was cut Monday, but they are still over budget by $581,000.
