Bowie Council to consider early retirement buy-out for small group of employees

A modified water use agreement with the new owners of the Top O’The Lake Country Club, plus a discussion on early retirement options for a small group of city employees tops the agenda for the Bowie City Council on Oct. 7.

The council will convene at 6 p.m. in the council chambers of the community room.

The retirement issue is being raised due to pending Jan. 1, 2015 changes from the state retirement system. A small group of employees impacted by the change have offered a proposal to the city for consideration. Read more on this story in the mid-week News.

A BOIL WATER NOTICE remains in effect for City of Bowie, TX water customers along Highway 81 from Parker Road to Old Bowie Lake. Affected customers should use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth. Results of water testing should be available shortly after noon today. If the testing is good, the BOIL WATER NOTICE may be lifted shortly thereafter

Repairs prompt boil order

A boil water order was implemented Monday afternoon for the area served at U.S. Highway 81 from Parker Drive to Old Bowie Lake as water line repairs were made. The order remains in place today. If you are affected by this order and need bottled water call 940-977-4941.
