Commissioners to receive judge’s retirement resignation Monday

Montague County Commissioners will meet at 9 a.m. Oct. 13 with the county judge’s resignation as he retires the top item.

County Judge Tommie Sappington announced last month he would retire at the Oct. 13 meeting. The agenda includes that item, plus the appointment of a successor, who is expected to be incoming judge Rick Lewis.

Lewis is running unopposed in the November general election and would take office Jan. 1, 2015. The agenda list approving bond for Judge Rick Lewis, so the appointment is planned.

Isaac Garcia from the Texas Association of Counties will present a safety award to the court.

The monthly veteran’s service office report also will be made. Other items include: Authorize the judge to sign a memo of understanding between the county and the Abilene Regional Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, along with a map endorsement agreement with Liberty Marketing.

A BOIL WATER NOTICE remains in effect for City of Bowie, TX water customers along Highway 81 from Parker Road to Old Bowie Lake. Affected customers should use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth. Results of water testing should be available shortly after noon today. If the testing is good, the BOIL WATER NOTICE may be lifted shortly thereafter

Repairs prompt boil order

A boil water order was implemented Monday afternoon for the area served at U.S. Highway 81 from Parker Drive to Old Bowie Lake as water line repairs were made. The order remains in place today. If you are affected by this order and need bottled water call 940-977-4941.
