Fainting goat buck wins national title

Wolf River Ranch has been home to Myotonic goats, also called “fainting goats,” since 2002 and while their business continues to grow it now boasts a new national title.

In late September at the Myotonic Goat Registry National Championships, Wolf River Malachi won champion buck. The event took place in Millington, TN. A Myotonic goat is a breed of domestic goat whose muscles freeze for roughly 10 seconds when the goat is startled. This characteristic is caused by a hereditary genetic gene.

Wolf River is operated by Rick and Nancy Geslin north of Bowie on Mac’s Grocery Road. Read the full story in the weekend News.
