Ex-Bowie Police Chief files federal civil rights suit against City of Bowie, city judge
Former Bowie Police Chief David Scruggs has filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the City of Bowie and Municipal Judge Darla Cordell for alleged violations stemming from his January firing.
The suit was filed on Nov. 7 in the United States District Court, northern district, Wichita Falls, by Nicholas A. O’Kelly, Kilgore & Kilgore PLLC, Dallas, on behalf of Scruggs.
The 16-page document outlines a lengthy series of allegations, before pointing to specific counts that include age discrimination and retaliation, defamation, malicious prosecution, violation of the Texas Government Code and multiple civil rights violations. A BOIL WATER NOTICE remains in effect for City of Bowie, TX water customers along Highway 81 from Parker Road to Old Bowie Lake. Affected customers should use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth. Results of water testing should be available shortly after noon today. If the testing is good, the BOIL WATER NOTICE may be lifted shortly thereafter
A boil water order was implemented Monday afternoon for the area served at U.S. Highway 81 from Parker Drive to Old Bowie Lake as water line repairs were made. The order remains in place today. If you are affected by this order and need bottled water call 940-977-4941.
