HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Season draws near for Bowie

Last year, Bowie High School traveled to Memorial Stadium in Wichita Falls for its season-opener against Hirschi.
This year, Hirschi will play here at Jackrabbit Stadium at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 28.
The schedule for 2015 is essentially the reverse last year’s with home games against Hirschi, Henrietta, Boyd, Breckenridge and Ponder.
“A lot of our 50-50 games were on the road last year,” Bowie head football coach Dylan Stark said. “That’s the main thing. The schedule is better for us because we have three of five district games at home.”
The strength and conditioning program will run through July, and the first University Interscholastic League-allowed practice date is Aug. 3. The first practice with pads on is set for Aug. 7. The following day on Aug. 8, “Meet the Rabbits,” will take place. Read more in the weekend Bowie News.
