Jim Bowie Days celebration off and running

Published

on

Jim Bowie Days has fun for the entire family this week from the two-day youth rodeo that opened the week to a full day of kid’s activities on Friday and Saturday’s parade.

Unfortunately, due to flooding at Lake Amon G. Carter, the annual bass tournament that usually opens the week on Sunday had to be cancelled due to the lake being closed to all traffic.

The area’s young cowboys and cowgirls prepared for two nights of youth rodeo in the Jim Bowie Arena Tuesday and Wednesday.

Speed events were Tuesday with poles, barrels and goat-tying and roping events were slated on Wednesday.

The first of three nights of rodeo will begin on Thursday with the grand entry at 7 p.m. and rodeo at 8 p.m.

See the full schedule of events in the mid-week News.
