STUDENT-ATHLETES: TGCA honors Gill, Wolsey

The Texas Girls Coaches Association has recognized Bowie’s Lily Gill and Petie Wolsey for their excellence in the classroom.
Both Gill and Wolsey were named to the TGCA academic all-state team in Conference 3A girls’ track and field.
Wolsey was a noted sprinter for Bowie this year, advancing to the finals in the 100-yard dash at the regional meet in Whitehouse. Gill qualified for the regional meet in the 1,600-meter relay.
Wolsey will attend Angelo State in San Angelo on a softball scholarship next season. Gill will attend the University of North Texas in Denton.
Athletes must be seniors in academic standing, have a grade-point average of at least 94 or above and be a team member in good standing.
Athletes are nominated by their coaches, in this case coach Colby Davis-Pastusek.
Slidell middle distance runner Caitlin Pruett and pole vaulter Kayson Roof was also picked for the all-academic team in Conference 1A and Windthorst’s Haven Canada and Brooke Schreiber in Conference 2A.
