Tales ‘N’ Trails Museum moves History Mystery Camp ahead one week

The annual History Mystery Camp conducted at Tales ‘N’ Trails Museum in Nocona has been moved to June 22-26.

There is still time to register, but space is limited for the camp.

Camp is open to children ages six to eight for the morning session from 9 to 11 a.m., and for ages nine to 12, 1 to 3:30 p.m.

Cost is $40 and includes snacks, crafts and the programs. It is $30 for each additional child in the same family.

Call 825-5330 for a reservation. Members get a 10 percent discount.

A special addition to the camp will be a performance by Brian Burns. He will have two shows on June 23 at 10:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. Cost for those not attending camp is $5 for adults and $3 for students.

Burns will perform “Once Upon A Time in Texas,” which is a multiple award-winning live concert presentation that reinforces a student’s Texas history curriculum with songs, stories and interactive dialogue. He was recently awarded the Daughters of the American Revolution Texas State Media Award for Excellence in Education for this program.

The Burns program is open to the public, call the museum to reserve your space. This will be an outdoor event, so guests are invited to bring a blanket or chairs.

Bowie, Nocona libraries wrap up summer reading this week

Local libraries wrap up their children’s summer reading programs this week.
The Bowie Public Library brings the popular Creature Teacher with all their spectacular animals for the final event on July 23 at the Bowie Community Center.
The program begins at 10 am. The children also will receive their prize books for their summer logs.
The Nocona Public Library ends its program at 10 a.m. on July 24 at the H.J. Justin Building at 100 Clay Street. The program will be “Our Own Action Heroes -” Nocona fire, police and EMTs.
