Bowie City Council may adopt new budget on Aug. 18
The first reading of an ordinance to adopt the 2015-16 City of Bowie budget will be on the Aug. 18 agenda of the city council.
Following the recent public hearing to review the $18,681,158 proposal, the council will consider adoption with the first reading of the ordinance. A second reading would be scheduled for Sept. 1 if it is approved.
Also on Tuesday’s agenda will be the first of two public hearings on the proposed tax rate of .4945 cents per $100 in property value. This is 2.15 cents higher than the 2014 rate of .4730. A second hearing will take place on Sept. 1.
Other items on the regular agenda include the annual reports from Main Street Bowie and the Bowie Economic Development Corporation.
Appointments also will be made to the 4A and 4B Economic Development Boards.
Tuesday’s meeting opens at 6 p.m. with a workshop. That agenda includes monthly reports, the city manager’s report and public comments.
There will be no council action taken in the workshop.
