City of Bowie to conduct budget hearing
The City of Bowie will conduct a public hearing at its Aug. 4 meeting beginning at 6 p.m.
City council members received the budget proposal from City Manager Ricky Tow at the July 7 meeting. During the next week the council met for budget workshops and made few changes to the proposal.
The 2015-16 budget proposes expenditures of $18,667,255. The general fund is budgeted at $8,583,071 and utility fund at $10,084,184.

Montague County under a tornado warning.
Sirens went off in the City of Bowie shortly before 3 p.m. A tornado warning continues in the area of Lake Amon Carter, Fruitland and Sunset, be in your safe spot. A funnel was reportedly wrapped in the rain.
Early voting for the Nocona General Hospital District Board of Directors saw 285 voters cast their ballot during the first week of early voting.
Ballots may be cast early through April 28. Election day is May 2, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. All voting is in the Nocona City County room at 102 Clay Street.
Candidates include two incumbents, Charles May and Ron Brown. De Brown, who had filed for re-election, later withdrew. Steve Bates and Shawn Patton are the other candidates. Three seats are open on the board.
