County commissioners wrapping up budget work
Montague County Commissioners on Monday proposed a 5.9 percent tax rate increase for 2015 to fund a budget more than $7.5 million.
The court will consider a 42 cent tax rate, which is .058 cents higher than the 2014 rate of .3620 per $100 in property value. A pair of public hearings on the proposal were scheduled for 8:45 a.m. on Aug. 24 and Sept. 8.
Commissioners approved the budget proposal. Judge Lewis said he anticipates the final draft would be filed with the county clerk by Wednesday. The public hearing on the budget will be at 9 a.m. on Sept. 16. Read the full story on the meeting in the mid-week News.
