CROSS COUNTRY: Nocona boys claim Jacksboro title

Nocona’s pack mentality in the boys’ race helped them win the Jacksboro Invitational on Sept. 19 at Jacksboro.
Brayden Skinner, Joan Gomez and Luis Rico placed fourth through sixth, respectively, as the Indians scored 53 points – which was seven fewer than Springtown.
Nocona’s girls were third with 83 points, behind Breckenridge’s 45 and Seymour with 61.
Skinner’s time was 18:37.68, with Gomez just two seconds back.
Maria Hernandez won her third meet of the season, claiming the Jacksboro title with a time of 13:17.94, 28 seconds faster than Abby Zamzow of Henrietta.
Crystal Duarte also produced a top-10 finish, grabbing fourth with a time of 13:55.
Forestburg’s Skyler Sandusky, Schuyler Smith and Kara Kirby ran in the event. Sandusky was 32nd in 21:21.91, and Smith 56th. Kirby was 18th in the junior varsity girls’ race. Read more, and see complete statistics, in the weekend Bowie News.
