Montague County’s law enforcement officers took part in a state-wide moment of silence and activated their red and blue lights for one minute at 11 a.m. on Friday honoring Harris County Deputy Sheriff Darren Goforth and all officers. Goforth was killed earlier this week while he pumped gas at a station in the Houston area. The moment of silence took place at 11 a.m. on Friday when his memorial service began. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott also asked that flags be flown at half-mast for the slain officer. Officers from the county sheriff’s department, Bowie, Nocona and Saint Jo Police, and Department of Public Safety took part as they circled the courthouse in Montague. (Photo by Barbara Green)
