Montague County tax rate hearing Tuesday
The final public hearing on the proposed 2015 Montague County tax rate will take place at 8:45 a.m. on Sept. 8.
A rate of .42 cents per $100 in property value has been proposed by the court. This is a .58 cent increase over the 2014 rate of .3620 cents.
Adoption of the tax rate will be considered on Sept. 16, along with the proposed budget. Tuesday’s agenda includes a budget workshop.
A hearing will be conducted for comments on the application for a “successful designation regarding the county-wide polling place program.”
Elections Administrator Brandi Shipman said the county has been in the program for one year, at which point it can apply for the designation and remain in the program. Without it the county would have to reapply each year. The county-wide designation allows registered voters to cast ballots at any location in, not just one box.
A BOIL WATER NOTICE remains in effect for City of Bowie, TX water customers along Highway 81 from Parker Road to Old Bowie Lake. Affected customers should use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth. Results of water testing should be available shortly after noon today. If the testing is good, the BOIL WATER NOTICE may be lifted shortly thereafter
A boil water order was implemented Monday afternoon for the area served at U.S. Highway 81 from Parker Drive to Old Bowie Lake as water line repairs were made. The order remains in place today. If you are affected by this order and need bottled water call 940-977-4941.
