BMH board says it has received no ‘viable’ offers as of Friday
By BARBARA GREEN
An e-mail was making the rounds Friday morning indicating there was a “push to buyout” Bowie Memorial Hospital, but board members and administrators said as of 2 p.m. Friday there were no “meaningful proposals” from any company. At 7 a.m. Monday morning the hospital was scheduled to fully close with the emergency room the final service to stop.
BMH Board Chairman Tim Winn said Friday afternoon while the board had discussions with various companies to lease or purchase or manage the hospital, it has received no meaningful proposals.
However, he explained they are bound by state law regarding the bidding process on the sale of any property and would have to go through those steps before any agreement would be made.
“The board will continue to seek any reasonable proposal to continue local services,” stated Winn, “at this point with the hospital set to close at 7 a.m. on Monday it is too late. There would be no time to handle any of these steps before the posted closure.” Read the full story in the weekend News.
