Nocona continues exploring fiber optic network options

Published

on

The Nocona Economic Development Corporations staff announces the next step in considering a fiber optic network around the Nocona area with a public meeting at 11 a.m. on Nov. 19 in the Tales ‘N’ Trails Museum, 1522 E Hwy 82.

This meeting seeks to educate interested citizens about what and where a fiber optic network might work.

“We received responses of more than 30 percent to the survey last month,” said James Yohe, executive director for the Nocona EDCs. “Based on the level of responses there is definitely interest in such a project. Now we need to discuss what might be built and where.”

John Padalino, the Nocona EDCs’ consultant with broadband project experience at the state and federal level, will facilitate the meeting.

Also expected to be in attendance are technical experts from various companies who have expressed an interest in the project.

Questions can be directed to the NEDC office at 825-3150. All interested people are welcome.
