For now, Bowie Ambulance runs at status quo

The City of Bowie will continue operating its ambulance service, but officials have not ruled out any possible changes in service area and costs.

As the doors closed on Bowie Memorial Hospital Monday morning, the ambulance service was having a normal start to the week; however, this time there was no local hospital to drop patients as they maneuvered to different hospital locations.

Fire Chief Doug Page said “Where are you going?” is the number one question they are hearing from people.

City Manager Ricky Tow said nothing changes in policy or the standards of care due to the local hospital’s closure.

A BOIL WATER NOTICE remains in effect for City of Bowie, TX water customers along Highway 81 from Parker Road to Old Bowie Lake. Affected customers should use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth. Results of water testing should be available shortly after noon today. If the testing is good, the BOIL WATER NOTICE may be lifted shortly thereafter

Repairs prompt boil order

A boil water order was implemented Monday afternoon for the area served at U.S. Highway 81 from Parker Drive to Old Bowie Lake as water line repairs were made. The order remains in place today. If you are affected by this order and need bottled water call 940-977-4941.
