Commissioners to consider open carry limits in its buildings

Montague County Commissioners voted Monday to form a committee to determine what areas need to be posted in regard to the open carry laws that start Jan. 1.

The court met for a brief 25-minute executive session to discuss the new law with County Attorney Clay Riddle and Chief Deputy Mark Blankenship.

The agenda listed conceal carry and open carry limitations for the courthouse and annex.

Monday afternoon, the committee met and pulled together a preliminary policy in time for the new year. A called session of the court is set for 4 p.m. Dec. 31 in the annex to consider the policy.

A BOIL WATER NOTICE remains in effect for City of Bowie, TX water customers along Highway 81 from Parker Road to Old Bowie Lake. Affected customers should use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth. Results of water testing should be available shortly after noon today. If the testing is good, the BOIL WATER NOTICE may be lifted shortly thereafter

Repairs prompt boil order

A boil water order was implemented Monday afternoon for the area served at U.S. Highway 81 from Parker Drive to Old Bowie Lake as water line repairs were made. The order remains in place today. If you are affected by this order and need bottled water call 940-977-4941.
