So, would the Bowie High School girls’ basketball team bounce back after last Saturday’s 10-point loss to Wichita Falls Rider at the Fantasy of Lights Tournament?
Yes.
Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Conference 3A sixth-ranked Bowie downed Celina 75-55 in a non-district game at home on Tuesday.
“Our kids did a great job of controlling the tempo,” said Bowie girls’ basketball coach Colby Davis-Pastusek. “We set the tone on both ends of the floor.
“Defensively, we made a few mistakes that we will fix and learn from,” Davis-Pastusek continued. “We had 19 assists as a team. I am very proud of that, and our willingness to share the ball.”
River Romine found Henslee Ogle for a bucket to give Bowie its first double-digit lead of the game at 16-6 with 1:46 left in the first quarter.
Despite some Bowie defensive lapses, Celina still had trouble keeping up and the Lady Rabbits’ lead grew to 21 points at halftime – capped off by a Kamryn Cantwell move inside the lane for two.
Bowie’s lead continued to grow in the second half, and the Lady Rabbits were up 59-33 at the end of three quarters.
The Lady Rabbits’ largest lead was at 53-26 after a Courtney Brady 3-pointer. Read more in the Dec. 5 edition of The Bowie News.

The new press box was by the Southern Bleacher Company out of Graham. Athletic Director Black Crutsinger said they looked at a lot of press boxes and decided they liked the one at Lindsay High School and went with that model. Sean Hutson operated the crane from the Hurd Crane Service that put the press box up for Nocona.
