HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL: Practices are underway

Baseball practices officially began for Bowie, Nocona and Saint Jo High Schools this past Friday as the season draws nearer.
That was the first allowable date for practices as set by the University Interscholastic League.
Both Bowie and Nocona have coaches entering their third season, with Ryan Rogers as the Jackrabbits’ skipper and Brent Lewis is piloting the Indians.
Bowie is coming off a strong season, finishing with a record of 26-3-2, a perfect District 3A-9 record and area finalist.
Chandler Dean, who recently signed with Northeast Texas Community College in Mt. Pleasant, will spearhead Bowie along with fellow seniors Lawson Mickler, Barrett Brooks, Carter Shackelford, Kamry Weber and Trace Hardee.
Nocona went 9-13, 4-10 in 3A-9, with all-district players Kameron Hill, Robert Hawkins, Charles Evans and Jeremy James back for another season.
