HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL: Bowie falters at Stallcup

The Bowie High School baseball team from 2015 made its own breaks, created luck and found ways to win.
The 2016 version of the Jackrabbits is still seeking to do the same, as evidenced by a 1-2-1 finish at the Walker Stallcup Tournament this past Friday and Saturday.
“We’ve talked about creating our own breaks, and putting pressure on the other team,” Bowie head coach Ryan Rogers said.
Bowie stands at 5-6-1 heading into District 3A-9 play, which ramped up with the season-opener on Tuesday versus Jacksboro. The Jackrabbits also play at City View in Wichita Falls on Wednesday and a triangular on Thursday with Godley and Lake Worth.
Rogers said there’s one area Bowie is struggling mightily.
“We struck out too many times this weekend,” Rogers said. “We struck out more times than the opponents.”
In close games, as the strikeouts pile up, pitch selection becomes more paramount, and that’s an area the Jackrabbits need to work on moving forward. Read more, and see the complete box score, in the March 16 Bowie News.
