HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: Nocona triumphs twice

The Nocona High School softball team won its first two games of the season on Friday with a 14-9 victory over Denison’s junior varsity and a 13-3 conquest over Alvord at the Burkburnett Tournament.
Nocona stands at 2-1, with six more games scheduled for this week.
Nocona 14, Denison JV 9
Deziray Graham and Lexi Towery both went 2-for-3, and both Towery and Karlie Pepper scored three runs apiece for the Lady Indians in the win.
Nocona 13, Alvord 3
Emily Wall held Alvord to three runs, none earned, on one hit and she struck out eight batters as the Lady Indians triumphed by 10 runs in four innings.
What’s Ahead?
Nocona played a non-district game at Notre Dame in Wichita Falls on Tuesday, and then the Lady Indians will compete in the Windthorst Tournament this weekend.
Nocona plays Henrietta at 5 p.m. on March 3, followed by a game versus Vernon at 9 p.m. on the same day.
On March 4, Nocona plays Azle JV at 1 p.m. and then Seymour at 3 p.m. The team wraps up play versus host Windthorst at 11 a.m. on March 5. Read more, and see box scores, in the March 2 Bowie News.
