REGIONAL: Wildcats’ hockey has historic run

The Wichita Falls Wildcats’ team in 2016-17 will have a tough act to follow, as this year’s squad went on a historic run.
The Wildcats’ finished with the most wins in team history (44), best winning percentage at .775 and most points in a single season with 93. Twenty-four of those wins took place at Kay Yeager Coliseum in Wichita Falls, another record.
The team improved its points and wins total for the fourth consecutive year, and the team allowed its fewest goals in a season.
Justin Kapelmaster and Julian Sime combined for a .914 save percentage, which was the best in team history.
Adam Goodsir was named North American Hockey League rookie of the year, and John LaFontaine was selected as the NAHL Coach of the Year.
The Wildcats were named the South Division Organization of the year. Read more in the June 1 Bowie News.
