Knit Together Sisterhood marks 10 years of knit, purl

Published

on

The Knit Together Sisterhood celebrated 10 years of prayer shawl ministry with a luncheon this week.
Knit, purl, knit, purl… these are the stitches 10 Bowie area women piece together to create prayer shawls, lap robes for men, infant caps and bereavement blankets.
More than 1,000 of these unique items have been delivered to individuals near and far away to provide comfort in a time of difficulty or crisis.
Formed in January 2006 by Linda Addison, Priscilla Briney, Gloria Hamilton, Penny Lancaster (now deceased), Kathy McCaig and Eunice Williams, the knitters can be found every Wednesday afternoon at a member’s home knitting, praying and sharing life experiences.
“Our other appointments (doctor, hair, etc.) are scheduled around our Wednesday afternoon sessions,” said Gloria Hamilton.
On July 20 current and past knitters came together at the home of Priscilla Briney to commemorate 10 years of sharing their ministry with a day of knitting and a celebratory lunch.
