FOOTBALL NOTEBOOK: Brock No. 1 in Conference 3A

The Texas Associated Press preseason poll was released on Wednesday evening.
No prominent local teams are featured; however, defending state Conference 3A Division I champion Brock leads the 3A poll.
Refugio is atop the Conference 2A poll with 222 voting points from balloters. Bremond is second and Shiner is third. Albany is sixth.
Muenster received 32 votes, just outside the top-10.
Brock accumulated 210 voting points for first, with Mineola second and Cameron Yoe third. Canadian was fourth and Wall ninth.
Other teams in 3A receiving votes are Sunnyvale, Cisco, Pottsboro, Grandview and Eastland.
Argyle is No. 1 in Conference 4A with 210 points, West Orange-Stark is second and Waco La Vega third. Read more in the Aug. 13 Bowie News.
Saint Jo Youth League sign-ups
Saint Jo Youth League football forms will be sent with students the first week of school.
There are two leagues. The flag league is for those from pre-kindergarten through second grade, and tackle football for third- through sixth-graders.
Equipment pick-up is set for 5-6:30 p.m. on Sept. 6 and Sept. 8 in the Saint Jo school gymnasium.
Tryouts for tackle football will be at 2 p.m. on Sept. 10 in Boggess Park. There will be a mandatory coaches meeting following the tryouts.
