CROSS COUNTRY: Bowie runs well at Keene

The Bowie High School boys’ cross country team recorded ninth-place finish at the Keene Invitational on Friday at Southwest Adventist Park.
Jackrabbit Kason Spikes was the team’s top runner in 30th spot, recording a time of 19:07.16.
Millsap’s Buster Lee was the boys’ winner in 16:29.86.
On the girls’ side, Bowie recorded a sixth-place effort as Bowie’s Valerie Walker raced in with a time of 13:28.06 for 20th spot overall.
Erin Derden from Rice was the overall winner in 12 minutes flat.

Nocona

Luis Rico raced in with an eighth-place finish in a time of 18:12.93 at the Seymour Invitational on Sept. 10.
Rico helped the Indians place fourth as a team with 87 points.
On the girls’ side, Yesenia Duarte had the Indians best time in 14:18.00, which was good enough for 22nd overall.
Michaela Yandall from Holliday was the girls’ top finisher, racing in with a time of 12:59.25. The top boys’ individual also was from Holliday as James Sheriff recorded a time of 16:38.34.

Gerald Richey Invite, Grand Prairie

Saint Jo’s Logan Morman raced in with a 51st place finish at the Gerald Richey Invitational in Grand Prairie Saturday.
The meet is run by the University of Texas-Arlington.
Morman clocked in at 19 minutes, 34.60 seconds in the boys’ Conference 1A-4A division.
Sanger was the overall meet winner on the boys’ side with 40 points. Edgewood’s Cody Delarosa was the meet winner, recording a time of 16:43.50. Read more in the Sept. 14 Bowie News.
