OUTDOORS: BTX bike race coming Oct. 1

The annual BTX bicycle race will be taking place in and around Bowie and Montague County on Oct. 1.
This race takes place alongside Bowie’s Chicken and Bread Days activities. Starting time is set for 9 a.m.
The race will take place through the rolling hills of both Montague and Jack Counties. Rest stops and additional support will be provided. It will begin along Smythe Street in downtown Bowie, and the service roads along United States Highway 287 are main routes along the journey.
There are four different races, ranging from 10 to 60 miles.
The registration fee is $35, since it’s after Sept. 16.
