Montague County Commissioners voted to seek outside proposals for emergency management services for the southern part of the county during its Monday meeting.
A letter from the City of Bowie accepted March 13 informed the court of the Bowie’s decision to discontinue ambulance service outside the city limits effective Oct. 1.

County Judge Rick Lewis said he met with Mayor Larry Slack and the Nocona General Chief Executive Officer Lance Meekins to discuss how the entities could accomplish their goals.
However, Lewis said over the weekend he received a phone call informing him the hospital is no longer interested without the option of providing services also within the city limits of Bowie.
