Bowie Knife world record designation unveiled
Certification of the Guinness World Record for the World’s Largest Bowie Knife was unveiled to the community during ceremonies this afternoon at Pelham Park. Bryan Brown and Van Baize, chairman of the knife committee for the Bowie Chamber of Commerce, and Diane Thomlinson, executive director for the chamber, uncover the certificate. The family of the late Bob Brashear attended the world record event Thursday. His wife, Verna Mae, and sons, Lance and his wife Lisa, and Bobbie attended, along with other family. The family made a substantial donation to the knife project, which pushed it over its financial goal. Mr. Brashear passed away in February, but he was able to enjoy the knife unveiled earlier in 2016. (Photo by Barbara Green)
