On the morning of June 28, Montague Independent School District leadership met and hired Heath Williams as head boys’ basketball coach.
Montague is a prekindergarten through eighth grade district in the center of the county.
It serves as another homecoming for the Williams family, and Heath will now work at the same school his father, Gordon, did during the early 1990s.
“We’re excited about having Heath join us on staff,” said Montague principal Angela Kleinhans. “I think he brings a lot of knowledge to the boys’ program, and we want our boys’ program to be as successful as the girls’ program.”
Montague is looking to Williams to provide stability and help build boys’ athletics.
In addition, Kleinhans reported Williams will teach middle school level technology courses, and he’ll be involved in other areas to. He also will coach cross country, track and field and tennis, and driving one of Montague’s bus routes (Nocona).
Kleinhans will continue coaching girls’ sports at Montague, basketball and volleyball, plus her administrative duties.
