Early voting begins next week in the Nov. 7 general election, and while there will be several local races, at the state level there will be seven constitutional amendments that cover everything from ad valorem taxes to charity raffles.
Early voting runs Oct. 23 to Nov. 3. There are no Montague County ballot issues, but there will be elections for the Bowie City Council and School board and the Saint Jo School Board.
The League of Women Voters of Texas have prepared the annual voter’s guide which is available online at lwvtexas.org. That guide includes a brief synopsis of the proposed constitutional amendments, plus arguments for and against.

According to the LWV, during the ensuing years 216 new sections have been added, while 66 of the original sections and 51 of the added sections have been removed. Today the document has 388 sections.
