BEDC board to get business park update

Members of the Bowie Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors will meet at 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 8 in the boardroom at 201 A. Walnut Street.
A status report on various aspects of the Bowie Business Park, which has recently been completed, will be discussed. Adams Engineering will make a report, there will be a report on electric service and street lights, plus plans for a street dedication.
Executive Director Janis Crawley will provide a report on the website development and recruitment design assistance.
Bids for remodeling and repairs to the property at 101 E. Pecan. The BEDC purchased the building after Citibank closed and has been renting it to Legend Bank, which no longer has a need for the office space since its new building has been completed. There are plans for the BEDC offices to move into the location.
The agenda concludes with an executive session to discuss an economic development project.

City staff examines new generators for water plant

City of Bowie officials were on hand to inspect the emergency electrical generators that were delivered last week.
Mayor Gaylynn Burris and City Manager Bert Cunningham inspected one of three emergency electrical generators purchased as part of an ongoing Federal Emergency Management Agency Hazard Mitigation Grant. They also talked with Jay Evans, head of the city electric department, and Jerry Sutton, director of the water treatment plant about the next step for installation of the generators.
This grant provides funding for one 150 kW and two 250 kW generators for use at the water treatment plant.
