Starnes’ death ruled accidental by ME

Published

on

The Dallas County Medical Examiner has ruled the death of Teresa Starnes, Nocona, as an accident from the toxic effects of methamphetamine and possible exposure to heat.
Montague County Sheriff Marshall Thomas said his office received the final report late Monday. Family members have been contacted. Thomas added the case will now be closed as an accidental death.
The body of the 29-year-old Nocona woman was found on Aug. 20 in the driveway of a home in the 1700 block of Oak Shores Road. The homeowner had gone outside to work in his yard when he found the unresponsive female and called 911.
Officers found no identification on the body and it was not until the medical examiner used fingerprints was her identity confirmed. She was a Nocona resident.
On Aug. 19 sheriff’s deputies responded to a suspicious person call in that area where a woman was reportedly in the street yelling. She then walked into a home uninvited and was told to leave. Officers did not find the woman, but the description of her clothing was similar to that of Starnes.
