Local schools compete at Jackrabbit Relays

In the final meet before competing for a district title, Bowie hosted its Jackrabbit Relays meet on Monday.
With 13 schools competing from around the area, it was a good competitive meet for athletes and teams to measure themselves before going into the district meet.
The meet hosts won both the boys and girls team divisions by having several versatile athletes earn points in many events.
The top points earner for the meet was the recent Angelo State University signee Abby Zamzow from Bowie, who won both hurdle races and both the long and triple jump on top of being a leg on the 4×100 meter relay.
For the Jackrabbits, they had three guys win their events on the way to a team title. Daniel Mosley won both the shot put and the discus, Logan Lawhorn won the high jump and Alex Shelton won the 800 meters.
For Nocona Kylie Rose won the 3200 meter race. Other top finishers included Raylee Sparkman finishing second in the 800 meters, Chloe Daughtry finishing second in the triple jump and fourth in the long jump, and Tyler Richards earning fourth in a close 400 meter race.
Small school Gold-Burg had a few athletes test themselves against athletes from the big schools. Blake Allen shined through, finishing second in the long jump.
