Man dies after ATV/UTV crash during Rednecks with Paychecks

Rednecks with Paychecks creator and owner Derrick Morse sadly reported on Tuesday one man died Monday from injuries received in a head-on ATV crash during the early morning hours of Saturday.
The accident happened about 2 a.m. on March 16 when an all-terrain vehicle collided head-on with a utility vehicle on a gravel road inside the park. Morse said it was not on any of the courses or tracks, but on a regular road.
The injured man, Steven Fairbairn, was on a four-wheeler with one other person when witnesses reported at the last second he veered into the path of a Razor “side-by-side.” The injured driver was not wearing a helmet.
Morse said the injured man received immediate medical attention and was airlifted to a Fort Worth hospital. Chief Deputy Jack Lawson confirmed Tuesday Fairbairn, 25, was taken off life support Monday and said he also was an organ donor. His address was listed with the medical examiner as Duncan, OK. A BOIL WATER NOTICE remains in effect for the 400 block of Decatur Street following a water main break. Members of the Bowie City Council will meet at 6 p.m. June 9 in council chambers.
City Manager Bert Cunningham will discuss the 2026-27 budget process.
After the consent agenda and public comments, the 2027 Montague County Tax Appraisal District budget will be presented.
Other topics of new business will include amendments to the finance department purchasing policy; ordinance adding a pickleball court reservation fee and ordinance prohibiting drilling and mining or the reopening of an abandoned well or mine in any public park located within the city limits and resolution authorizing the submission of an application to the Texas Parks and Wildlife for a 2027 local park grant.
