Hymns for the Hungry moves to July 31

Published

on

UPDATE- Hymns for the Hungry organizers reported on June 24, the date for the event has been moved to July 31 with the same time and location.

Seven years ago, the First United Methodist Church of Bowie had a vision for helping to feed the hungry in their community.
That vision led to the creation of “Hymns for the Hungry,” an annual event which allows surrounding churches/organizations to support those in need through music.
This year’s host church is Lighthouse Assembly of God located at 2998 State Highway 59 in Bowie. This event will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on July 17.
Each church or organization that would like to participate needs to plan for two songs, share in donating the food and drinks that will be served, and provide a couple of cakes for a live auction.
“Meal deals” of a hot dog, chips, and drink will be served for $5. Donations will be taken for dessert. Admission is $1 per person.
All proceeds will go directly to “God’s Table,” which is an outreach provided by First Free Will Baptist Church. This outreach is open six nights a week and feeds between 25-40 people each night.
The program organizers will be accepting only the first 10 sign-ups, so don’t delay. Deadline to sign up is July 10. For more information or to sign your church up, call or text Jarae Scruggs at 940-841-1212.
You also may call the FUMC office at 940-872-3384.
