Saint Jo readies Real Cowboy Symposium for Saturday

Tickets are going fast for the June 22 Real Cowboy Symposium in Saint Jo with a limited about still available for sale reported organizers on Monday.
This year the program takes a look at infamous gunslingers and outlaws. Guests will hear the real stories about some of the most famous gunfights in history, as well as Texas feuds, vigilantes and killers.

Along with the speakers there will be firearms exhibits by Jackson Firearms, an authentic 1880s chuck wagon cooking up coffee on the square, a historically accurate reenactment of the gun fight at the OK Corral and visit a real cattle trail saloon “The Stonewall Saloon Museum on the square.

Bowie, Nocona libraries wrap up summer reading this week

Local libraries wrap up their children’s summer reading programs this week.
The Bowie Public Library brings the popular Creature Teacher with all their spectacular animals for the final event on July 23 at the Bowie Community Center.
The program begins at 10 am. The children also will receive their prize books for their summer logs.
The Nocona Public Library ends its program at 10 a.m. on July 24 at the H.J. Justin Building at 100 Clay Street. The program will be “Our Own Action Heroes -” Nocona fire, police and EMTs.
