Bowie Council receives third budget proposal

Bowie City Council members received a third draft of the 2019-20 budget proposal Monday night which includes a small tax increase, a reduction in small commercial electric rates, a three percent pay increase for employees and a $700,000 loan to replace two major items.
The third draft is balanced with a small projected cash balance of $86,171 at the end of the year. Expenses in utility fund (water, electric and sewer) are allocated at $9,471,000 and revenues at $11,336,430.
The transfer from the utility fund to general fund also has been increased by $100,000 going from $1,150,000 to $1,250,000.The general fund expenses are proposed at $8,251,643 and revenues at $7,021,168.
City Manager Bert Cunningham introduced the draft noting it incorporated the directives of the council from the previous workshop.
