Bowie City Council to adopt budget

The Bowie City Council will consider the ordinance adopting the 2021-22 budget and review the budgets for the Economic Development Corporation boards when it meets at 6 p.m. on Aug. 23.
A budget proposal was accepted by the council at its last meeting. The ordinance states the general fund will have appropriations of $8,660,692 and the utility fund, $9,568,281.
The tax rate hearing will be rescheduled for Sept. 13, where the 2020 tax rate has been proposed to continue in 2021 at .5447 cents per $100 in property value.
The BEDC budgets are included in the city budget, but are fully funded through the economic development sales tax. The BEDC budget is balanced with proposed expenses and revenue at $1,547,142. The Bowie 4B Sales Tax Corporation Board budget is balanced and proposed at $1,456,232.
The only other item of new business is open and award a sealed bid for lot six in the Garlington tract. The city manager’s report, consent agenda and public comments wrap up the agenda.

Brief agenda awaits city council

Members of the Bowie City Council will meet in regular session at 6 p.m. on May 13 in council chambers.
The meeting opens with a proclamation for Emergency Medical Services Week.
City Manager Bert Cunningham will report on recent rainfall problems, Smythe Street sidewalk project and the substation work.
There is only one item of new business an ordinance related to speed limits on specific streets. Public comments and approval of minutes wrap up the agenda.

Amon Carter Water Supply Corporation board sets meeting

The board of directors of the Amon Carter Lake Water Supply Corporation will meet at 6 p.m. at Carter Lake Baptist Church 4759 FM 1125.
Agenda items include an engineer’s presentation and resolution workshop with Daniel Deweber and Prairie Branch Properties.
