On Nov. 4 at the Texas Downtown Association Conference in Denton, Brad and Deann Sherman – owners of the Chapman Building – were honored with the Texas Downtown Association People’s Choice Award for Best Renovation/Rehabilitation/Restoration at the annual President’s Gala.
Receiving the award with them were original owner, James Chapman’s grandchildren James Hobdy and Ann Barnett, Bowie Mayor Gaylynn Burris and her husband Mark, Community Development Director Cindy Roller, and her guest Sulphur Springs City Manager Marc Maxwell.
To qualify for finalists in the competition, Roller had to complete an essayed submission with before/after photos on behalf of the Chapman Building, competing against 107 others across the State of Texas. A total of five finalists were named in their division for the President’s Awards.
