Early voting opens Monday for May 7 special election, Nocona Council election

Early voting for the May 7 Texas Constitutional Amendment election and Nocona City Council races will open on April 25 and continue through May 3.
Four early voting locations will be set up across the county including the Montague County Annex Community Room, Nocona Community Center, Saint Jo Civic Center and Bowie Bible Baptist Church. The locations will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday.
On election day, the same locations will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Four people are running for the three places on the Nocona City Council: Christopher Nunneley, J. Kevin Kirkpatrick, Yesika Rodriguez and Taylor Ross. None of the incumbents filed for election.
The Texas Legislature placed two constitutional amendments on a special election ballot.

Bowie fish fry to assist youth fair sales on Jan. 4

Enjoy a fish fry and live music concert on Jan. 4 all to support the 4-H and FFA youth of Montague County as they compete in the annual youth fair.
The annual Bowie fish fry for the Bowie buyers group will begin serving at 5:30 p.m. at the Bowie Community Center. Cost is $10 per plate. There will be a live auction at 7 p.m.
The evening’s concert will feature Dax Davis. Live music begins at 8:30 p.m. with the Davis concert at 9:30 p.m. Cost for the concert is $25 per ticket and $20 for a student, or $300 for a reserved table for eight.
