Middletons’ federal cases receive a continuance

Published

Another continuance has been granted in the Jan. 6, 2021 capitol riot charges against Mark and Jalise Middleton of the Forestburg area.
A plea agreement hearing had been scheduled in U.S. District Court on April 11. A status of discovery hearing took place in early February.
On April 12, an unopposed joint motion to continue was granted by U.S. District Judge Randolph D. Moss.
The Counsel for the United States filed the request on April 8 noting the case was currently set for April 11 for a change of plea hearing, however, the parties jointly requested the change of plea hearing be converted to a status hearing and continued until 11 a.m. on May 10, 2022.
The request states this continuance will allow the parties to continue discussing alternative resolutions to this cases, potentially short of trial. The defendants do not oppose the continuance.
