Readers submit snow day photos

Thank you to everyone who shared their snow day photos with The Bowie News. There were fun shots, shots of nature and those of people getting stuck. Thankfully Montague County was not hit by the massive ice storm that blew through Central Texas taking out trees, tree limbs and power. Schools were closed three and half days, as were several businesses. There were no major injury accidents reported in the county, but there many large truck slide-offs and jack-knifes along U.S. 287. A BOIL WATER NOTICE remains in effect for City of Bowie, TX water customers along Highway 81 from Parker Road to Old Bowie Lake. Affected customers should use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth. Results of water testing should be available shortly after noon today. If the testing is good, the BOIL WATER NOTICE may be lifted shortly thereafter

Repairs prompt boil order

A boil water order was implemented Monday afternoon for the area served at U.S. Highway 81 from Parker Drive to Old Bowie Lake as water line repairs were made. The order remains in place today. If you are affected by this order and need bottled water call 940-977-4941.

City of Bowie officials report Montague County, TX will be under an ELEVATED FIRE THREAT today. Please be careful. Hear Audio Alert:https://hrpow.us/H9U9gWU

A heat advisory also continues until 8 p.m. tonight. Remember to check on pets and older neighbors. Stay safe.
