Hymns for the Hungry this Sunday
The 9th annual Hymns for the Hungry will be 5:30-8 p.m. on Oct. 22 at the Bowie Community Center.
For just $1 you will enjoy music from a variety of performers. “Meal deals” of a hot dog, chips and drink will be served for $5, and dessert will be $1. There also will be a cake auction.
Two paintings that were donated will be auctioned off including a Thomas Kincaid original. Drawings for gift cards to food establishments and grocery/gas stores will take place all evening.
All proceeds will go to God’s Table, a food ministry provided by First Free Will Baptist Church. Open six nights a week it feeds approximately 125-150 people each night.

Scheduled to sing are members from Bowie First Methodist, First Christian, Evergreen Life Service, Jackson Blaylock, First Freewill Baptist, Montague County Cowboy Church, Casting Out Ministry-Kenny Bingham, Lighthouse Church and Freedom Life could not perform this year, but are helping with food.

Bowie Public Library’s Summer Reading program continues on July 16 with the Olympics.
It will be all about the upcoming Summer Olympics with outdoor games at the soccer field. Summer reading wraps up with the popular Creature Teacher on July 23 who brings lots of animals to the kids to see up close.

Summer reading is open to children ages 0-12. Keep a summer reading log and earn a book.

Nocona Library’s Summer Reading program continues at 10 a.m. on July 17 at the Justin Building at 100 Clay Street.
The program will be space adventures and include a demonstration of a drone. Make plans to attend.
