Nelda Virginia Howard

NOCONA – Nelda Virginia Howard, 74, died March 14, 2024.
Visitation was from 5 -7 p.m. on March 17 at Jerry Woods Funeral Home Chapel in Nocona. A funeral service was at 2 p.m. on March 18 at Valley View Baptist Church in Spanish Fort, officiated by Pastor Cameron Whitley. Interment followed at Liberty Chapel Cemetery in Montague County.
She was born Aug. 28, 1949 in Hondo, TX to Bill and Bernice Brown, and lived in Devine, TX for the duration of her childhood. She graduated from Devine High School in 1967. Pursuing career opportunities, she moved to San Antonio, where in 1969 she met Steven Thad Howard, and the two married on April 14, 1970. They then moved to Fort Leonard Wood, MO and in early 1972, they returned to Spanish Fort.
While living in Spanish Fort, she was an active Valley View Baptist Church leader and Sunday school teacher. She also was president of the Prairie Valley 4-H and a Texas Foster Care and Adoptive Services certified foster parent. She returned to Devine from 1990-1992, where she received treatment for and overcame stage four ovarian cancer. After returning from Devine in 1992, her family has since called Nocona home.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Bill Brown, Mike Brown, Roy Brown, Dusty Brown and Bob Brown.
She is survived by her husband, Steve Howard, Nocona; children, Heath Howard, Krum, Heather Porter, Elk City, OK, Hank Howard, Nocona and Hannah Whitley, Humble, TX; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild and siblings, Milton Brown, Karen Kohlleppel, Dana Palmquist, Mark Brown and Gaye Matthews.
Memorial donations may be made to Valley View Baptist Church, 6159 Hwy 103, Nocona, TX 76255.

Tony Lee Stockard

BOWIE – Tony Lee Stockard, 65, went home to be with the Lord on Sept. 12, 2024 in Wichita Falls.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 16 at the White Family Funeral Home in Bowie. A funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Sept. 17 at the Montague County Cowboy Church in Montague, with Pastor Joe Caballero as the officiant. Burial followed at Elmwood Cemetery in Bowie.
Tony was born June 17, 1959 in Bowie to Darrell and Lois (Smith) Stockard. He graduated from Bellevue High School in 1978. Tony Stockard married the love of his life, Deanna Stockard on Nov. 11, 1995 and loved her to his last day. He was a hard worker and had a long and prosperous career in the oil field working for Devon Energy. Tony went to work for Hammer Construction in Bridgeport and currently was employed with Kyle Erwin Construction in business development.
Tony was a Godly man, and cherished his family and loved spending time with them in Red River, NM every year. He enjoyed Alaskan TV shows, a good tan, well manicured grass, a clean truck, his mullet haircut and that handlebar mustache.
He is preceded in death by his father.
Tony is survived by his wife, Deanna, Bowie; daughters, Tori Davis and husband Austin, Bowie, Stormy Stockard, Denton and Racey Edgett and husband Clint, Alvord; mother, Lois Barnard, Bowie; brothers, Ray Stockard and wife Sharon, Bowie and Monty Stockard and wife Johnyce, Bowie; aunt, Pat Cunningham, Dallas; uncle, Gerald Stockard, Lebanon, OK; grandchildren, Colton Davis, Weston Davis, Ace Edgett and Paycee Parker and two great-grand children, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Ted Lee “Butch” Price

BOWIE – Ted Lee “Butch” Price passed away peacefully on Sept. 14 at the age of 88, surrounded by his family and friends.
A family visitation took place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sept. 17 at the White Family Funeral Home in Bowie. A graveside service followed at 2 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery.
Ted was born in Electra. After high school, and eloping with his childhood sweetheart, Marlene, Ted attended The University of Texas graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business and a commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force.
As a fighter pilot in the Air Force, he flew the F-100 Super Sabre and the F-105 Thunderchief. After the Air Force, he became a pilot for Braniff International Airways flying the McDonnell Douglas DC-8, the Boeing 727 and the Boeing 747. After 22 years there, he was recruited to UPS where he served as the Boeing 747 fleet supervisor and chief pilot at DFW. In total, Ted spent more than 41 years in the flying industry.
Ted and Marlene moved to Bowie in 1972 to raise their three sons. Through the years he served his community as president of the Bowie Independent School District School Board and the Amon Carter Lake Water Board, and served on the Bowie Memorial Hospital Board. He attended the First Christian Church, Southside Baptist Church and volunteered at the Bowie Mission.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Floe and his brothers, John (J.W.) and Glen (Pod) Price.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene; sons, Stewart and wife Sue, Travis and wife Marla and Warren and wife Audra; grandchildren, Kyle and wife Stephanie, Tyler and wife Katelynn, Emily, Ryan, Allison and husband James, Katelin and husband RJ, Payton, Parker and Neely and great-grandchildren, Nolan, Luke, Sloan and Avery.
In lieu of flowers, Ted would be honored by your donation in his name to the Bowie Mission or the Wounded Warrior Project.

William Noah Nance

BOWIE – William Noah Nance, 36, died Sept. 1, 2024.
A memorial service will take place at 2 p.m. on Sept. 24 at the White Family Funeral Home in Bowie.
He was born Jan. 15, 1988 in Abilene to William Randall Nance and Lisa Hancock. He graduated from the Chippewa Valley School District in Michigan and attended some college before enlisting in the United States Navy in 2014. Will served his country with two service deployments and multiple rotations on the U.S.S. Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier, and was honorably discharged in 2022.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents and one cousin.
He is survived by his fiance, Kaci Lee Kubica and their son, Theodore Lee Nance both of Coppell; his father, Bill Nance, Colorado Springs, CO; mother, Lisa Beyer, Bowie; his aunts and uncles and many cousins.
