TxDOT asks: Should U.S. 287 become an interstate?

Do you think U.S. Highway 287 through Bowie and Wichita Falls should be an Interstate highway? The Texas Department of Transportation has a group studying the possibility. And they would like to hear what you think of the idea.
TxDOT is seeking public input on the future of U.S. 287, a corridor that spans 671 miles from Port Arthur, through the Greater Wichita Falls area, to Amarillo and plays a major role in moving people and goods through Texas.
The comprehensive study will evaluate transportation needs and identify potential multimodal solutions for needs.

A BOIL WATER NOTICE remains in effect for City of Bowie, TX water customers along Highway 81 from Parker Road to Old Bowie Lake. Affected customers should use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth. Results of water testing should be available shortly after noon today. If the testing is good, the BOIL WATER NOTICE may be lifted shortly thereafter

Repairs prompt boil order

A boil water order was implemented Monday afternoon for the area served at U.S. Highway 81 from Parker Drive to Old Bowie Lake as water line repairs were made. The order remains in place today. If you are affected by this order and need bottled water call 940-977-4941.
