The Nocona City Council may have new leadership after the Nov. 4 election as longtime Mayor Robert Fenoglio said he was not going to file for another two-year term.
With less than a week left to file for the various city and school elections, this was big news in the community Fenoglio has lead for the past 18 years as mayor and on the council for another 10 years prior. Fenoglio made his intentions known in the Aug. 7 Nocona News, telling editor Tracy Mesler “I’m not filing.”
The mayor’s post is on the ballot, along with council positions filled by Robert Fuller and Don Davis. As of Wednesday two filed for mayor, Chris Nunneley and Ray Gelo.Robert Norman, teacher at Nocona High School, has filed for the council along with Fuller.
It is unclear if Donnie Davis will run. He was seriously injured in an autoaccident in May 2024 and has attended only two meetings since the accident. Filing goes until Aug. 18.
In Bowie, Mayor Gaylynn Burris is challenged by Glenda Durham. Precinct Three Councilor Stephanie Post has filed for re-election. Incumbent Councilor One Brent Shaw and Councilor Two Donna Ashley have not filed. Boyd Hulstine has filed for Ashley’s post.
The Bowie Independent School District Trustee election has three candidates. In place three, Jeff Jackson runs challenged by Justin Kuecher. Place Four Trustee Kent Dosch also has filed.
In the Nocona ISD trustee race, incumbents Erica Patton, place three and Greg Fuller, place four, have both filed for re-election.
In the City of Saint Jo, there is a mayor’s race and three council places on the ballot. Alderman Michael Dennis has filed for re-election. The other places are filled by Martha Vite and Terry Stewart. Mayor Kelly Williams resigned in mid-July with one year left.
For the Saint Jo ISD incumbents Mike Martin and Rodney Swirczynski along with Jessyca Wagner filed.
