One wreck leads to three more
Four people were transported to Medical City Decatur after a trio of accidents occurred during a 90-minute period on Aug. 21 along U.S. Highway 81 near State Highway 101.
According to the Department of Public Safety public information office, the first wreck occurred at 3:45 p.m. on U.S. 81/U.S. 287 near State Highway 101.
Leslie Chavez, 31, Fort Worth, was driving a 2017 Toyota Camry south on U.S. 81 when it failed to maintain a single lane and veered into the center median.
The car struck the cable barrier. The DPS reports Chavez said she felt her vehicle shaking before the crash possibly from mechanical issues.

A BOIL WATER NOTICE remains in effect for City of Bowie, TX water customers along Highway 81 from Parker Road to Old Bowie Lake. Affected customers should use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth. Results of water testing should be available shortly after noon today. If the testing is good, the BOIL WATER NOTICE may be lifted shortly thereafter
A boil water order was implemented Monday afternoon for the area served at U.S. Highway 81 from Parker Drive to Old Bowie Lake as water line repairs were made. The order remains in place today. If you are affected by this order and need bottled water call 940-977-4941.
